Don't be afraid to ask questions, the teachers and staff are all eager for you to succeed!
Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?
I really enjoyed the school trip to Hakone. It was a joy to spend time outside of class with the other students and our teachers, and it gave me another opportunity to practice conversational Japanese.
What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?
Only using Japanese in class was very helpful in developing fluency, and becoming comfortable with using Japanese in everyday situations. The only unproductive part, was in situations where I wasn't able to hear my conversation partner(Due to an underlying ear condition I have).
What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?
I think that tests are always a good benchmark, to test your strengths and weaknesses. being able to speak with the teachers before or after class is also very helpful!
Anything you especially liked in the living arrangements? Any problems you experienced?
I enjoy being able to walk to school with other students who are living in the dormitory. Occasionally we study together in the community room.
Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?
Don't be afraid to ask questions, the teachers and staff are all eager for you to succeed! If you're in the English program, attend EVERY English support class, Kato-Sensei is so helpful, and can easily clear up any confusion you may have in class.
