Don’t skip class and don’t be afraid to talk with your teachers about material that you don’t get on the first try.

Charlotte from Winter 2025

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I appreciated the trip to Hakone and the opportunities to speak with Native Japanese speakers.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I found the Intensive Language program to be very engaging and helpful to my Japanese learning journey. I also really value connecting with other students from different countries and cultures.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I find reviewing the textbook useful for before tests and making flashcards/repeatedly writing Kanji was the most useful method of memorizing the Kanji. For Grammar, I often reviewed using the GoKCP mini tests and spoke with the teachers about areas that I didn’t understand or wanted to be expanded upon.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Don’t skip class and don’t be afraid to talk with your teachers about material that you don’t get on the first try. Make lots of new friends and utilize your time in Japan to become as familiar with the culture as you can and have new and exciting experiences every day.

Testimonials

KCP’s Summer (short) term program fit my personal schedule very well. It was also the most professional and affordable program that I could find. It also included a cultural aspect to its education program that I appreciated.
